History:

The Armstrong Rod Car was patented by John C. Armstrong, of Sharon, in the county of Mercer and state of Pennsylvania, June 3, 1879. At this point we know very little about the history of the Armstrong Rod Car or it’s inventor John C. Armstrong. There are several John Armstrong’s living in Sharon Pennsylvania in the 1870’s – 1880’s according to census records. More in depth research is needed at this time in order to establish a history of the J.C. Armstrong Rod Car. Only one example of the J.C. Armstrong Rod Car has been found as of November 2016.
