I got this pulley and see that there is a swivel as shown in Barry’s book. The head is the same as the interlocking set. However it can be attached to the fork pulley with or without the swivel. I assume that the swivel can only be used when triple reaving is applied since the pulley wouldn’t go into the trolley straight. as shown in this pic.

Well that is another nice piece you have found.
The answer is this….
Perfect set-up for the ADVANCE and “OUR OWN” series.
One can essentially eliminate the double hay sling set this way, creating a fork carrier that could utilize a monster multi tine fork through triple reaving.
My guess is that the owner had a Jackson fork and needed the extra lift.
The pathway would be simply:
1. Rope terminates in the register ball.
2. Rope travels up through the receiving bell and over the smaller sheave.
3. Comes down from the smaller sheave and through the fork pulley.
4. Back up into the carriage and over the larger sheave and out the side.
Specifically to your observation, Kenny, it is the straight up pull of the terminated end in the register ball that keeps everything in alignment as the ball enters the receiving bell.
